A prospective observational study of the use of Homeopathic treatment in chronic sinusitis has shown positive results in 87.6% of a sample of 550 subjects confirmed with having the condition confirmed by radiological examination. The observational study was conducted over a 6 month period and statistically significant results were revealed in symptom reduction as well as radiological appearances taken at baseline, 3 and 6 months after treatment commenced.
A list of remedies was selected by identifying the most appropriate rubrics for chronic sinusitis. All subjects individual cases were taken and prescribed for. If a remedy from the list was not indicated for the subjects symptoms, they were excluded from the study. The remedies most commonly prescribed and found to be the most effective were Silica, Calc Carb, Lycopodium, Phosphorous and Kali Iodatum. The authors concluded that there was a significant improvement in presenting symptoms as well as radiological results and controlled trials are required for further validation.
